At H&H Audio Visual when we are designing HD Distribution systems, often we recommend the new HD content distribution technology, HDBaseT Lite.
HDBaseTLite is a development of the HDBaseT (HDBT) standard established by WyreStorm and other distribution system manufacturers. The Lite version is designed to handle mid-market installations with 4 x 4 or 8 x 8 matrices and does not include the ability to carry out Ethernet distribution. It is designed to manage and obviate the problems associated with networks using HDMI sources, which require constant source identification and content validation (EDID and HDCP) to ensure the system operates without infringing copyright.
The HDBaseT Lite products can handle 2k resolution and work at a bandwidth of 6.75Gbps.
WyreStorm have released 3 matrix switches featuring the technology - all with serial and IR control ports - provide simultaneous HDMI and UTP outputs, which have capacities ranging from 4 x 4 (four HDMI inputs, four UTP outputs and four HDMI outputs) to 6 x 6 and 8 x 8.
The system allows installers to handle ‘five play’ convergence – video, audio, internet, control and power – over single Cat6 cable runs. It can distribute 1080p uncompressed HD signals for up to 70m without the use of extenders.
